A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has won 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

He defended four early-game break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
