Whenever a prominent awards ceremony draws close, there’s always an outcry to include additional classifications to recognize unsung work and satisfy the hearts of fans who have specialized interests.
Another commentator previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. The same goes for board games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. But they will have to forgive me if I try to elbow in front because like all dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification for why my demand remains most pressing and important of all. The demand is this: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.
Organizing Gaming Categories
Categorizing art by genre defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and it will always start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. There’s a reason movie academies avoid this approach. Yet it remains an essential concession in the world of interactive entertainment, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify one unified medium.
To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, while allowing diverse titles to have a chance for representation, classification by type becomes crucial.
Current Gaming Award Categories
Leading game ceremonies offer these award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these classifications actually cover a lot of ground, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.
This doesn't apply to puzzle games. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Consider three of this year’s best games, all very different: structural challenges from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching from another release, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. What category would fit them among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.
Acknowledgment Issues
There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.
- An iconic brain-teaser received no recognition in any category that year
- A different innovative game was excluded during that ceremony
- Popular arranging title was overlooked recently
- Limited numbers of brain-teasers scraped into small studio or handheld classifications
Importance of Logic Titles
Commonly they're compact experiences, but the art behind logic titles is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games rank among most popular titles globally and have been for many years.
The legendary block-stacking game rivals famous sandbox experiences for the title of highest-selling title ever; it also contends as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and engaging across multiple categories.
Proposal and Rationale
Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. You could fill five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles every year with ease — perhaps, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.
And to reiterate, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Logic title developers function at the hard edge interactive creation, producing among essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay 35 years.
